Froglet Gathering - 24/7/2015

I took these photos a couple of evenings ago but was treated to more of the same this evening when I went out to my pond.

Whereby a few weeks back my pond was full of tadpoles, now the little rocky area at one end of the pond is full of little froglets.  I must have counted at least thirty or so of them and as I counted still they kept coming out of the water.

Soon they will all have left the pond and before too long Autumn will be here and the leaves will be falling.  I will keep my fingers crossed that these little froglets one day make it back to my pond but in the meantime I'll be left of fond memories of watching them develop from frogspawn.

  1. It's great you have so many and lovely to be able to watch them all grow up and move on :)

Thanks for all the comments recently - and for commenting on both blogs too! I know the posts are pretty much the same on both at the moment but for the next ones as I catch up I'll be doing my best to vary the content on the two blogs for each day a bit so they're not quite as repetitive!

  2. Ian, I expect a few will stay if only to make mowing a longer job.

  3. It's so nice to see the little frogs again, I would be like a mother hen making sure they were all right. Have you notice if the birds have been interested ? I can imagine a Blackbird having a good look round..

    1. I've not been around much during the day to notice if the birds have been interested Amanda. Today I did watch a Blackbird in the garden but he seemed more interested in the block of suet we've put out for them.

I'll be worrying now about the froglets now you've mentioned about the Blackbirds.

  4. How rewarding, Ian, to have these froglets around your pond. We saw tadpoles in Scotland (on the island of Gigha) ... and toads (elsewhere in Scotland), but not sure I've seen a frog this year.

    1. It certainly is rewarding Caroline. It's been great to watch them develop frogspawn and fingers crossed I'll be able to enjoy them for years to come.

  5. How lucky to see them develop so well and become lovely little froglets. I do hope they return to your pond next year, I bet it has been a joy to watch them:)
