Tadpoles - 11/4/2015

It rained in the early hours of this morning but when I went outside late this morning the sun was out and the tadpoles had gathered in a sunny part of the pond.  As you can see there are still a good few of them which means that the newt hasn't scoffed too many just yet.

Some tadpoles have already left the
safety of the hairgrass plant where they
spawned and have started swimming.

    1. Thanks for your kind comments David. I absolutely love your garden pond and I could see from your recent video just how much joy it must bring you.

  2. The newt might not be the only animal wanting a juicy Tadpole, would be interesting to see if the birds try taking them, still hope loads survive though.

    1. You're quite right, I was watching with my heart in my mouth recently as a Magpie was nearby. Luckily it didn't spot the frogspawn and hasn't been back since but I know other birds do visit the pond so it will be interesting to see if any develop an appetite for the tadpoles.
